About this course:
The First Person on Scene Intermediate (FPOS) (I) course is designed to take students up to the next level in first aid training for those involved in providing initial emergency care, such as Maritime Security Officers, Close Protection and Security, Fire and Police Officers and Community Care Workers.
The course qualification is devised to provide students with simple but effective skills, knowledge and confidence to enable them to provide immediate care in the first few minutes of an emergency.
Subjects covered include:
- Pre-Hospital Environment Considerations
- Casualty Assessment
- Respiration and Airway Management
- Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation
- Circulation and Treatment of Shock
- Trauma Management
The First Person on Scene qualification is clinically recognised by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Scotland, and is recognised as the leading body for Pre-Hospital Care throughout the UK. In line with industry guidance, the qualification supports/approves first aiders for a period of 3 years, at which point learners will need to re-sit the course, however the recommendation is that learners refresh their knowledge annually.
This qualification is typically delivered on a five-day training course.
Learners must undertake a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. A written exam covering all subjects taught on the course.
